8 Days Tanzania Safari Tour – DETAILED SAFARI ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer to Tarangire National Park for an Afternoon Game Drive
Your 8 days Tanzania safari tour begins at 8.00 am. Your tour driver guide shall pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and take you on a 2½-hour drive southwest to one of Tanzania’s many natural treasures: Tarangire National Park. This 2850 km2 park is one of Tanzania’s finest birding spots, as there are over 550 bird species. Plus, during the dry season (July to October), there are incredible numbers of Buffalos, Wildebeests, Giraffes, Zebras, and Antelopes.
Tarangire is, however, renowned for hosting Tanzania’s largest elephant herds and massive baobabs – Africa’s most iconic trees. Herds of up to 300 elephants are often encountered in the park. Other animals include Lions, Baboons, Leopards, cheetahs, Ostriches, and African-painted wolves (wild dogs).
However, the real prizes in the park are the Dwarf mongoose, Oryx, and Gerenuk or “giraffe gazelle” – though sightings are pretty rare. The best part is that, because Tarangire is a quiet, often overlooked park, there are fewer crowds to witness its superb wildlife. You’ll arrive in the park in time for lunch. Later embark on an afternoon game drive to view the abundant wildlife.

This thrilling spectacle is the largest terrestrial mammal migration on our planet and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.
The Maasai people who have lived in Serengeti for thousands of years call this park Siringet, meaning means “endless plains”. And indeed, if you visit Serengeti, you will see flat, verdant land studded with acacia trees extending dozens of miles into the distance. These plains host an intricate ecosystem offering the best variety of fauna and flora in Africa. Besides wildebeests, zebras, and other plains game, there are incredible numbers of lions, hyenas, leopards, and cheetahs.
