Day 1: Drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park; Afternoon Game Drive

Your exciting 2 Days Tanzania Safari in Lake Manyara National Park begins today! Your tour guide shall pick you up from your Arusha hotel at about 8.00 am or at Kilimanjaro International Airport, latest by 9.00 am.

After a short tour briefing, embark on a beautiful African drive of about 2 hours north. Travel through lively towns and the vibrant village of Mto wa Mbu, which is home to around 18,000 people from 120 different Tanzania tribes.  You will arrive at your lodge near Lake Manyara National Park in time for lunch.

After lunch, enjoy a game drive around Lake Manyara NP. This scenic 330km² park lies at the foot of the dramatic Rift Valley escarpment, which provides a backdrop for your search for the park’s phenomenal bird life (including raptors), tree-climbing Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, Hippos, Crocodiles, Waterbucks, Baboons, Blue Monkeys, and Buffalos.

Look up and see some of the more than 400 bird species, including pink Flamingos, Pelicans, Cormorants, Storks, Vultures, eagles, and hornbills.

Beyond wildlife, Lake Manyara National Park is home to giant fig trees, acacia woodlands, mahogany trees, and grassy flood plains. The contrasts of this area are simply breathtaking; the open plains, huge escarpment, central alkaline lake, dense woodlands, and distant volcanic peaks coming together in an area best described by Hemingway as “the loveliest I have seen in Africa.”

After a game drive, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Optional Activities You Can Choose To Do Today:

Mto wa Mbu Village Walk: You can opt to go on a 2-hour stroll through the local farming village of Mto Wa Mbu. The walk takes you to see local farms, schools, a kindergarten, local homes, the market, and milling machines. You can also opt for a local lunch in the middle of the village.

Lake Manyara Night Game Drive: The night game drive is carried out from 20:00 to 23:00 hours. It offers a great opportunity to see rare nocturnal creatures such as Porcupine, Civet, Galago, Genet, Mongoose, Owls, and Nightjars. Massive hippos can also be seen happily foraging. There is also the regular sight of leopards and lions as they are most mobile at night.

Day 2: Half-Day Game Drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Drive Back To Arusha

After an early breakfast today, go for a half-day game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Resident herbivores that you will likely encounter include elephants, hippos, giraffes, wildebeests, buffalo, warthog, and impala.

Primates include Vervet monkey, blue monkey, and baboon. Lake Manyara has the highest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world. You will also look out for the park’s lions that have developed an intriguing habit of climbing trees.

After a game drive enjoy a bush picnic lunch near Majimoto hot springs as you enjoy the landscape and wildlife. Then exit the park and drive back to Arusha for your onward travel arrangements and the end of this 2 Days Tanzania Safari in Lake Manyara National Park.
