Welcome to Tanzania! Your fantastic 19 days Tanzania safari tour starts upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Our company’s representative transfer you to a comfortable hotel in Arusha.

Arusha is the gateway to Tanzania’s incredible array of national parks, and at 1400 meters above sea level, enjoys a temperate year-round climate. With no activities planned until your briefing in the evening, if you arrive early you might like to take a stroll to acquaint yourself with the town.

After the briefing, fuel up on a hearty dinner and get a good night’s rest ready to start your Kilimanjaro climb tomorrow.

Day 2: Climb Mount Kilimanjaro: Machame Gate (1,800m) – Machame Camp (3010m).

On day two of your 19 days Tanzania safari tour, start you will begin your trek to conquer the continent highest peak. You will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha and driven about 1½ hours to Machame gate (1,800m) – the southwestern entrance to the Kilimanjaro National Park.

You will get your climbing permit and register with the search and rescue service. You also have a thorough briefing, meet your dedicated crew of guides, cooks, and porters, and undergo all health checks. Your health will be monitored every step of the way to ensure you are acclimatizing correctly to the thinning air.

Porters will carry everything necessary to put up a comfortable camp for you. The hike today will start with a pleasant stroll through the rainforest, where colobus monkeys and many species of brightly coloured birds can be seen. You end your day at the Machame Camp (3,010m) above the rainforest.

Day 3: Climb from Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3750m).

On your second day on Mount Kilimanjaro, leave the Afromontane forest and hike into the moorland. Observe how the vegetation becomes sparser as you ascend along the trail to the Shira Plateau; soon, several unique species, including the giant groundsel and lobelia, will be the only plants dominating the harsh landscape.

Physically speaking, hiking is not very hard, but you may feel the altitude changes, so pay attention to your body and remember that choosing the proper pace is essential for good hiking. After reaching Shira Camp, enjoy lunch and relax.

You will spend the night camping here on the edge of the plateau and be treated to a golden sunset over the snow-covered peaks of Kibo.

Day 4: Climb from Shira Camp to Lava Tower (4,630m). Descend Barranco Camp (3,960m).

This day includes an acclimatization hike. In fact, one of the most proven ways to acclimatize to increased altitude is to ‘climb high, and sleep low, which means hiking to a point above your camp and then returning to camp to rest.

After breakfast, enjoy a fantastic trek as you ascend into a barren alpine desert.  Head up to Lava Tower (4,630m), and then back down to Barranco Camp. Barranco area is well-known for its giant groundsel plants. You will also witness the famous Barranco Wall, imposing in both its massive size and steepness!

Day 5: Barranco Camp – Barafu Camp (4,640m).

After breakfast, begin climbing the Barranco Wall (it’s not a technical climb). After summiting it, you may rest and take some photos in front of the Kibo volcano. Then, embark on a trek to Karanga Camp, with many ascents and descents. On arrival, enjoy a warm lunch and take some time to relax.

Then, complete your ascent to Barafu Camp. Barafu is the Swahili word for ice, and it can be very cold here at night! Tonight, have an early hot dinner so that you can rest as much as possible before the final summit attempt very early tomorrow morning.

Day 6: Ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) & Descent to Millennium Camp (3,820m).

You will be awakened by your guides at about midnight. You will be offered hot tea and biscuits to give you energy before the long, difficult ascent up scree, and sometimes snow to Stella Point, which is 5780 meters above sea level.

En route, pass the giant Rebmann Glacier and hopefully arrive at Stella Point in time for sunrise and superb views of the crater, the glacier glistening in the morning sun.

From Stella, it’s a further one-hour hike along the rim of the crater to the world-famous Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Here, you get to bask in the glory of this magnificent setting and the empowering experience of reaching the “Roof of Africa” on your own two feet. Take in unforgettable views of the crater, the ice fields, and the vast and distant East African plains below.

After photos, begin your descent. Back at Barafu Camp, enjoy a well-earned lunch and much thicker air! After lunch, continue to Millennium Camp for the night and have a well-deserved rest.

After your descent, the whole group will gather to congratulate you, followed by offering you a chance to share your opinions on the climb in the guestbook. You receive your trekking certificate. You are then driven to your hotel in Arusha for a soft bed, electrical lighting, and – often best of all – a hot shower!

Day 9: Game Drive in Arusha National Park & Community Walk. 

After breakfast on day nine of your 19 days Tanzanian safari tour, take a short 45-minute drive to the beautiful Arusha National Park for a leisurely safari game drive. Although the park has no large predators, it is undeniably beautiful.

It covers an area of about 137km2 and comprises Mount Meru (4,562m), ancient fig tree forests, sulphur lakes, a volcanic crater, meandering mountain streams, and waterfalls. It is very quiet and has a variety of animals and superb birdlife. Buffaloes, elephants, hippos, waterbucks, bushbucks, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, colobus monkeys, flamingos, and blue monkeys, can be seen.

After a game drive, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the late afternoon, go for a community walk. Tour the colorful local markets and get a feel for African local life in Tanzania. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Travel to Tarangire National Park for A Game Drive.

After breakfast on day 10 of the 19 days Tanzania safari tour, take a beautiful two-hour drive to Tarangire NP in the southwest. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. After lunch, have some time to rest and then embark on a four-wheel drive (4×4) game drive in search of wonderful wildlife.

Tarangire is a lovely quiet park, off the beaten safari track. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which attracts a lot of animals in the dry season.

Tarangire NP is renowned for hosting Tanzania’s biggest elephant herds and giant baobab trees – some over 1000 years old. Elephants are often present in herds of up to 300 individuals – an incredible sight for even the most seasoned safari-goer.

The gorge is where in 1959 that Mary Leakey discovered a 1.8-million-year-old ape-like skull from an early hominin (human-like being) now known as Australopithecus boisei.

Wander through bustling narrow streets while admiring the historical old. Explore local fruits and vegetable markets, fish markets, Tip tipu houses, the House of Wonders, and the National Museum.

Also visit the Old Slave Market, which is now the location of Anglican Cathedral Church, a building that houses some memorials to the city’s tragic past, one of which is an altar built over the spot where the whipping post stood.
