  • Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park & visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route for Rhino tracking

    After breakfast at 6:30am, drive to Murchison Falls National Park 311km from Kampala about 5 hours’ drive excluding stops en route enjoying good views of the flat stretches of Nakasongora district. A stop will be made at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary 7km off the main road at Nakitooma to track the southern white Rhinos which only thrive here in the whole of Uganda following their re-introduction in 2005. The Rhino trek lasts about 2 hours exploring the members of the Big five family, settle for lunch at Kabalega dinner before proceeding on the drive to Murchison Falls National Park for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    Depending on where you spent the previous night, you start the game drive between 6am – 7am in the northern sector of the park for 3 – 4 hours. The exciting game drive offers possibilities of exploring a range of wild game including Jackson’s Hartebeest, Rothschild Giraffes, Elephants, Buffalos, Lions, Leopard, Uganda Kob, Oribis among others. The golden monkeys tend to thrive in the Bamboo zone of the Volcanoes and have got a golden patch on their back which makes them impressive to look at.   • Day 10: Undertake an adventure hike to Nyiragongo Volcano – the world’s most violent lava lake

    Cross the Congo boarder at Goma at 7:30am Rwandan time and transfer to Kibati Patrol post 1hr drive from the boarder.  This marks the beginning of a lasting adventure hike the world’s largest and most violent lava lake at the top of Nyiragongo Volcano rising to 3470m above sea level.  The hike to the summit takes about 4 – 6 hours and you spend the great evening at the summit waiting to gaze into the lava lake after dark.

  • Day 11: Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano & relax on the shores of Lake Kivu

    You can wake up very early for the sun rise experience after which you settle for breakfast and then embark on the descend back to Kibati gaining views of other Virunga Mountain, dense Congo jungle & Lake Kivu.  You spend the evening on the shores of Lac Kivu refreshing from the Mountain trek.

  • Day 14: Do Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest NP & afternoon adventure Nyungwe canopy walk

    Depart the lodge at 5am to transfer to Cyamudongo Forest for Chimp trekking experience. Briefing commences at 8am before setting off to the forest in the company of the park ranger guide in search of Chimpanzees – man’s closest Ape in terms of DNA. The trek offers good views of lush flora, birds and other primate species such as the Black and White Colobus monkeys. The Chimp Trek lasts 2 – 5 hours inclusive of one hour with the chimps.   • Day 10: Undertake an adventure hike to Nyiragongo Volcano – the world’s most violent lava lake

    Cross the Congo boarder at Goma at 7:30am Rwandan time and transfer to Kibati Patrol post 1hr drive from the boarder.  This marks the beginning of a lasting adventure hike the world’s largest and most violent lava lake at the top of Nyiragongo Volcano rising to 3470m above sea level.  The hike to the summit takes about 4 – 6 hours and you spend the great evening at the summit waiting to gaze into the lava lake after dark.

  • Day 11: Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano & relax on the shores of Lake Kivu

    You can wake up very early for the sun rise experience after which you settle for breakfast and then embark on the descend back to Kibati gaining views of other Virunga Mountain, dense Congo jungle & Lake Kivu.  You spend the evening on the shores of Lac Kivu refreshing from the Mountain trek.

  • Day 12: Speed boat transfer to Bukavu – Kahuzi Biega National Park

    Transfer by speed boat from North Kivu Province to South Kivu Province enjoying incredible views of Lake Kivu. You meet the guide and the vehicle at the beach on Bukavu side and transfer to the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

  • Day 13: Do Eastern Lowland Gorilla Trekking & cross to Rwanda – Nyungwe Forest Np

    Embark on the Eastern low land gorilla trekking adventure in Kahuzi Biega National Park exploring the other gorilla subspecies besides the Mountain Gorillas. The Eastern Lowland Gorillas have stocky body, short muzzle and less hairy compared to Mountain Gorillas.  The trek offers a perfect moment to gain diverse experience with these two-gorilla subspecies. Retreat from the activity and transfer to Rwanda’s Nyungwe Forest National Park crossing at Ruzizi 1 boarder post.

  • Day 14: Do Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest NP & afternoon adventure Nyungwe canopy walk

    Depart the lodge at 5am to transfer to Cyamudongo Forest for Chimp trekking experience. Briefing commences at 8am before setting off to the forest in the company of the park ranger guide in search of Chimpanzees – man’s closest Ape in terms of DNA. The trek offers good views of lush flora, birds and other primate species such as the Black and White Colobus monkeys. The Chimp Trek lasts 2 – 5 hours inclusive of one hour with the chimps. Retreat from the activity, relax at the lodge, enjoy lunch and in the afternoon, connect to the Uwinka visitor center for the adventure canopy walk. This is a lasting adventure experience walking over 60m high off the group amidst the lush canopy of Nyungwe. It’s a long stretch with likely sights of birds, and butterflies and takes about 2 hours to accomplish.

  • Day 15: Do Colobus Monkey tracking in Nyungwe Forest Np & transfer to Kigali. Optional visit to the National Museum of Rwanda en route in Butare & Nyanza Palace

    Undertake the Colobus Monkey tracking in the forest of Nyungwe exploring one of the 13 primate species found in Nyungwe Forest.  Nyungwe Forest is recorded to have the largest grouping of Black and White Colobus Monkeys in the whole of Africa of over 400 individuals. The young ones are all white in color while the mature ones have black and white coat and are surely nice for photography. From the activity, you embark on the drive to Kigali 268km about 6 hours drive.   An optional heritage tour can be made at National Museum of Rwanda in Butare or the Nyanza Royal Palace.

  • Day 16: Do Kigali city tour

    Undertake the city tour of Kigali exploring the landscapes of Kigali including Kigali genocide memorial that takes you back to what transpired during the 1994 Rwandan genocide between the Hutu and the Tutsi. You also visit Kigali markets and Art studio for more rewarding experience.
