The 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Primate & Wildlife safari is an amazing safari featuring a blend of primates, wild game, culture and adventure. The Safari starts from Rwanda’s International Airport and ends at Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport.   • Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park 135km about 2 – 3 hours drive. Do Imigongo Art tour en route + amazing countryside photography & game drive in the park in search of the recently re-introduced Black Rhinos

    After breakfast, set off at 7am and transfer to Akagera National Park 135km about 2 – 3 hours drive. You enjoy the impressive countryside landscapes before arriving in Rwamagana for Imigongo art experience. You drive to the Eastern province of Rwanda close to Akagera National Park where you will spend good time with the local women exploring how the traditional knowledge dating from the pre-colonial Rwanda has been enhanced to produce one of the world’s recognised art pieces.  Retreat from this activity, settle for lunch and in the afternoon embark on the game drive in Akagera National Park. The main focus will be on search for black Rhinos but also other wildlife species like Masai Giraffe, Zebras, and Elands among others might be explored

    After an early breakfast at 6am, embark on another game drive in Akagera National Park to gain chances of exploring more wild game including the Black Rhinos among others. After the 3 – 4 hour activity, embark on the drive to Gisenyi on the shores of Lake Kivu to the North East of Rwanda. Enjoy good sightseeing experience of Rwandan hillsides en route.

  • Day 4: Explore Rwanda’s Dancing Pots – a famous Batwa led project, attend to amazing Intore traditional performance & sun set relaxation on the sandy beaches of Lake Kivu

    After a relaxed breakfast, you proceed to Gisenyi and visit the Dancing pots project. Today about 33,000 Batwa remain in Rwanda represent 0.4 percent of the population. They are particularly renowned for their skills as potters, dancers and musicians. This encounter presents an ideal moment of interaction learning their great skill.  You enjoy the incredible traditional performance of the Banyarwanda after which you retire at the lodge to spend the rest of the day at leisure.  You are free to enjoy the soothing swimming pool at the hotel or swim in the bilharzia free waters of Lake Kivu.

Spend the leisurely evening at Chameleon Hill Lodge on the shores of Lake Mutanda – a beautiful lava dammed lake.

  • Day 6: Do Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park & transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Np 53km about 2 hours drive.

    After breakfast, you gather at Ntebeko Visitor Center or the Muhabura side depending on where the gorillas are living those days to catch up with briefing at 8am led by the UWA Park rangers trekking the Nyakagyezi gorilla group. After briefing, you connect to the trail head and start the gorilla trek passing through dense vegetation perched on steep slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park shelters three (3) of the eight (8) Virunga Volcanoes namely; Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga and Mount Sabyinyo with their peaks inside the park. You explore these impressive slopes gaining scenic views of the region, exploring flora and fauna not forgetting a myriad of birds before coming across the critically endangered apes as they forage, the young ones playing and rolling themselves on tree branches and the silverback demonstrating their mighty dominance. The one full hour with the gorillas is a rewarding moment to explore the gorilla in detail and take as many pictures as you can. You retreat from the activity which tends to last 2 – 8 hours after which you transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

  • Day 7: Do Mountain Gorilla Habituation Experience & relax at the lodge

    After breakfast, gather at the respective park headquarters for briefing at 8am and eventual start of the gorilla habituation encounter. You follow the trails of your respective gorilla family traversing the forest with is hilly forested landscapes and deep saddles. The hills are forested with mature trees and dense undergrowth that have earned it the name Impenetrable. The gorilla habituation encounter tends to last 2 – 8 hours inclusive of four (4) hours direct viewing of gorillas. Seeing the critically endangered apes as they forage, socialize, the young gorillas rolling themselves on tree branches and the Silverback demonstrating his authority is a moment of wonder that derives remarkable excitement. Retreat from the activity and the rest of the day at leisure

  • Day 8 - Ngorongoro Crater – Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)

    After breakfast, we drive to the Ngorongoro Crater and descend into it for a half-day of game viewing.

    Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest volcano caldera formed three million years ago and is considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world and one of Africa’s most remarkable geological sites.

    The Big Five (rhino, elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard) and most of the animal species found in the Serengeti, including zebra, hippos, wildebeest, and cheetahs, can be viewed close up. The Ngorongoro Crater ecosystem maintains the historic balance between people and nature in a way that is not possible in other parks.

    Depending on your flight departure time, you will ascend and proceed to JRO for your flight back home.

    End of the Tanzania wild safari-Northern Circuit – 8 Days 

  • Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, game drive en route in Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions. Good photos of Lions lying on trees 309km about 8 – 10 hours drive

    Early breakfast and depart at 6:30am to Queen Elizabeth National Park to the north of Bwindi. The drive takes you through Ishasha sector in the south of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you spend some time driving in its rolling plains marked by counts of fig trees in search of tree climbing lions that tend to climb the fig trees during the day time. The short trees with overlying branches in Ishasha present the best opportunities for viewing tree climbing lions than any other part of the world where such Species exist. Continue on the drive to the northern sector of the park arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

  • Day 9: Do Lion Experiential in the morning where you track Lions & get close to them than never before. Optional Kazinga Channel launch cruise – the highlight of Queen Elizabeth Np & transfer to Kasese 72km about 2 hours drive. Optional Balloon Safari $380pp

    After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a morning game drive exploring the park’s rolling savannah landscapes dotted with counts of wild game including the big four of the big five like lions, leopards, buffaloes and elephants, antelope species like water bucks, Kobs, bushbucks among others, jackals among other wild game. The major emphasis will be on the Lion tracking experience in the company of expert trackers searching out for the lions in the wilderness. This is one of the thrilling encounters as it brings you closer to Lions in the wilderness than ever before. Retreat from this activity, settle for lunch and then embark on the transfer to Mount Rwenzori Area for relaxation, dinner and overnight.  The Kazinga Channel boat is optional and you can choose to participate or not $30pp.   The Balloon safari can be undertaken instead of the Lion Experiential.

  • Day 10: Day hike to the legendary Mountains of the moon – the Rwenzoris gaining incredible views of the Albertine rift flats, water bodies (Lakes, Rivers & glaciers) & the communities below including Kasese town. Transfer to Kibale Np Area in the evening 135km about 2 hours drive.

    Gather at Nyakalengija park station early in the morning to embark on the whole day hike to the Rwenzori Mountains. The Rwenzori Mountain rises to 5,109m above sea level with snowcapped peaks despite its closeness to the world’s main latitude – the Equator. Encounter the world heritage site which is greatly known for its impressive flora other than fauna. The impressive giant lobelias and groundsels are lovely to encounter. The sights of the peaks can be viewed at a distance, the sights of glaciers flowing down the mountain is beautiful not forgetting the savannah landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park, the rift valley lakes of George and Edward and Kasese town below. Retreat from the activity and transfer to Kibale National Park 135km about 2 hours’ drive to Kibale Np. Enjoy the views of Ndali- Kasenda crater field en route

  • Day 11: Undertake whole day Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale NP & Night Nocturnal Walk

    Connect to Kanyanchu Tourism Center to catch up with briefing at 6am and then head to the forest of Kibale on the Chimpanzee habituation experience. The Chimpanzee Habituation experience unlike the Chimpanzee tracking presents a magical encounter to spend the whole day with Chimpanzees as you explore them forage, socialize, copulate, much fruit, patrol, make their impressive pant hooting calls from the time they leave their nests up to the time they build the new nests. It is a magical day in the forest exploring other forest wonders including the historical trees that are 55m tall and over 200 years old and the myriad of birds including the Kibale ground thrush that is endemic.  At 7pm, you embark on an exciting Nocturnal walk experience gaining chances of exploring the amazing species in the verdant forests of Kibale including the Bush babies, African Civet, Mongoose among others.

    Early breakfast and depart at 6:30am to Queen Elizabeth National Park to the north of Bwindi. The drive takes you through Ishasha sector in the south of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you spend some time driving in its rolling plains marked by counts of fig trees in search of tree climbing lions that tend to climb the fig trees during the day time. The short trees with overlying branches in Ishasha present the best opportunities for viewing tree climbing lions than any other part of the world where such Species exist. Continue on the drive to the northern sector of the park arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

  • Day 9: Do Lion Experiential in the morning where you track Lions & get close to them than never before. Optional Kazinga Channel launch cruise – the highlight of Queen Elizabeth Np & transfer to Kasese 72km about 2 hours drive. Optional Balloon Safari $380pp

    After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for a morning game drive exploring the park’s rolling savannah landscapes dotted with counts of wild game including the big four of the big five like lions, leopards, buffaloes and elephants, antelope species like water bucks, Kobs, bushbucks among others, jackals among other wild game. The major emphasis will be on the Lion tracking experience in the company of expert trackers searching out for the lions in the wilderness. This is one of the thrilling encounters as it brings you closer to Lions in the wilderness than ever before. Retreat from this activity, settle for lunch and then embark on the transfer to Mount Rwenzori Area for relaxation, dinner and overnight.  The Kazinga Channel boat is optional and you can choose to participate or not $30pp.   The Balloon safari can be undertaken instead of the Lion Experiential.

  • Day 10: Day hike to the legendary Mountains of the moon – the Rwenzoris gaining incredible views of the Albertine rift flats, water bodies (Lakes, Rivers & glaciers) & the communities below including Kasese town. Transfer to Kibale Np Area in the evening 135km about 2 hours drive.

    Gather at Nyakalengija park station early in the morning to embark on the whole day hike to the Rwenzori Mountains. The Rwenzori Mountain rises to 5,109m above sea level with snowcapped peaks despite its closeness to the world’s main latitude – the Equator. Encounter the world heritage site which is greatly known for its impressive flora other than fauna. The impressive giant lobelias and groundsels are lovely to encounter. The sights of the peaks can be viewed at a distance, the sights of glaciers flowing down the mountain is beautiful not forgetting the savannah landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park, the rift valley lakes of George and Edward and Kasese town below. Retreat from the activity and transfer to Kibale National Park 135km about 2 hours’ drive to Kibale Np. Enjoy the views of Ndali- Kasenda crater field en route

  • Day 11: Undertake whole day Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale NP & Night Nocturnal Walk

    Connect to Kanyanchu Tourism Center to catch up with briefing at 6am and then head to the forest of Kibale on the Chimpanzee habituation experience. The Chimpanzee Habituation experience unlike the Chimpanzee tracking presents a magical encounter to spend the whole day with Chimpanzees as you explore them forage, socialize, copulate, much fruit, patrol, make their impressive pant hooting calls from the time they leave their nests up to the time they build the new nests. It is a magical day in the forest exploring other forest wonders including the historical trees that are 55m tall and over 200 years old and the myriad of birds including the Kibale ground thrush that is endemic.  At 7pm, you embark on an exciting Nocturnal walk experience gaining chances of exploring the amazing species in the verdant forests of Kibale including the Bush babies, African Civet, Mongoose among others.

  • Day 12: Early breakfast and transfer to Entebbe International Airport 355km about 7 hours drive. Flight departure in the afternoon
